Mooney unveils diesel trainer

Mooney is taking aim at the international market with its new M10T and M10J diesel-powered singles announced Nov. 11. The composite, fixed-gear M10T is powered by a Continental CD-135 diesel engine and marks Mooney’s first foray into the flight training arena. The retractable M10J plays off the popular Mooney M20J, and is powered by the Continental CD-155 diesel engine.

Mark Moline, director of the School of Marine Science and Policy within UD’s College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment, and a colleague at Scripps Institution of Oceanography began working with the non-profit BentProp Project in 2013 to apply underwater robotics technologies in search of lost U.S. airmen.

The FAA issued a Safety Alert for Operators (SAFO) in August that alerts owners, operators, repair stations, and mechanics about the temporary loss of displayed heading and attitude in aircraft equipped with the Garmin GRS 77/77H AHRS (Attitude Heading Reference System). Two possible causes identified by Garmin are moving the aircraft on the ground during the first 10 seconds after powering up the AHRS, and magnetic interference introduced near the magnetometer(s) during AHRS initialization.

FAA seeks to keep federally funded hangars for aviation - but at what cost?

AOPA is asking the FAA to be more flexible when it comes to determining what constitutes acceptable use of airport hangars. In formal comments filed Sept. 18, the association urges the FAA to expand its definition of “aeronautical use” and to give the owners of private hangars more freedom to use them as they wish.
